Paul Wendell Hood, 84, of Haleyville, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. His funeral will begin at 12 p.m., with Bro. C.R. Hood and Bro. Ronnie Marbutt officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Grove Cemetery.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jo Taylor Hood and his two loving children, Michael (Cecilia) Chilcoat and Fredieth (JR) Marcum. He had 6 grandchildren he thought the world of - Alex Myrick, Logan Myrick, Taylor Chilcoat, Samantha Marcum, Michaela Chilcoat and Nick Marcum. He was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Delaney-Jo Marcum and Bo Woodard Marcum. He is also survived by three brothers, Terril Hood, Waymon Hood and Ferlin (Treva) Hood, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that meant the world to him.
Wendell was a member of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church since 1988 and held many positions within the church over the years, including Sunday School teacher, song leader, groundskeeper for the church and cemetery and the church maintenance committee. He truly loved his church family.
His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, hunting, camping, bird-watching and piddling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Verna Berry Hood and two sisters, Paulette Hood Holt and Rose Etta Hood Rawlins.
