Lyle Wrecker Service prepares to remove from the scene a cement truck involved in a fatal accident this morning in Haleyville.
HALEYVILLE - A collision between a Nissan Frontier Pickup and a cement truck early Thursday morning, July 25, has resulted in a fatality.
The accident occurred on Highway 13 North in Haleyville near Triple H RV's. The driver of the cement truck, whose name has not been released, was taken to Lakeland Community Hospital with injuries. The driver of the Nissan Frontier was killed in the accident. The name of the deceased will be released later by the Marion County Coroner's Office.
The impact was so strong that it broke the axle on the cement truck, causing it to overturn on the shoulder near Triple H, with a fuel spill occurring. The Haleyville Fire Department responded to the scene, as did the Alabama Department of Transportation. Ward's Towing removed the pickup from the scene of the accident, with Lyle Wrecker Service removing the cement truck.
The Haleyville Police Department is leading the investigation into the accident, and more details will be released as they become available.
