HALEYVILLE - Evelyn Kate Carroll was crowned Leo's Loveliest for the junior division of the pageant held Friday night at the Haleyville Elementary School cafetorium. First alternate was Brookleigh Cockrell, second alternate was Karlie Lasker, third alternate was Lily Tinch and fourth alternate was Hadley Smith.

Case against Cantrell dismissed
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Winston County Circuit Judge Lee Carter dismissed with prejudice the State of Alabama's case against Jarod Chase Cantrell, a former teacher and coach at Double Springs Middle School, Wednesday, Feb. 27. A mistrial due to prosecutorial misconduct was granted on Feb. 22. Dismissed with prejudice means the case has been permanently dismissed and cannot be brought back before the court.
