School, community preparing for HMS 10th anniversary celebration

HALEYVILLE  -  The date Feb. 26 will commemorate a special occasion at Haleyville Middle School in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the school, as invitations to past and present administrators, board members and other special guests are being sent out for an assembly commemorating the occasion.

Beloved former employee honored by Haleyville School Board

HALEYVILLE - Emotions ran high for the family of the late Juanita White at the Haleyville City Board of Education’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22, when a “Serve With Pride” award was given in recognition of White to members of her family in attendance.

Students provided gardening opportunities

DOUBLE SPRINGS - As part of the Winston County Diabetes Support Coalition, at least one school in every town in the county now has raised garden beds, it was told at the meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Meek goes green


These cans are at Meek schools for recycling. High School Principal Marla Murrah hopes to reduce garbage by up to 50 percent.

One dead after vehicle collides with petroleum tanker truck

Musso hired as new HHS football coach

HALEYVILLE  -  Haleyville school officials agreed that the hiring of Chris Musso as head football coach for the high school was the right fit for the system for multiple reasons.

Bigger fair this year? Officials say yes


The fair in Double Springs is set to begin Tuesday, April 23. It promises to be a bigger fair than last year with popularly known musical acts in the works.
