HALEYVILLE  - The outbreak of the flu virus has spread like wildfire through different parts of the state, causing several schools, including Haleyville Elementary, to close their doors in order to clean and disinfect before students return Monday, Feb. 3.

BEAR CREEK - Exactly one week after cancer claimed the 4-year-old life of Wyatt Spann in Winfield, the community of Bear Creek is mourning the loss while celebrating the life of Chase Hulsey, a Phillips High School senior whose life was also taken by cancer at the tender age of 19.

LYNN – After several months with no police presence, the town of Lynn has hired a police chief, who is no stranger to police work. Bryan Kirkpatrick, former chief deputy with the Winston County Sheriff’s Office, was named chief of police during Lynn’s town meeting Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020. His effective date was the next day, Jan. 22.

HALEYVILLE  - An early morning blaze at an apartment building at 802 6th Avenue in Haleyville has resulted in arson charges against a Haleyville man after fire officials entered the lower level of the structure to find a chair fire had spread, endangering the second floor.
