WINSTON COUNTY - The Winston County Arts Council is proud and excited to present a new pop-musical comedy at Looney's Tavern, once the site of the famous Alabama State Official Outdoor Drama, Incident at Looney's Tavern.
Cyrano de Burger Shack features great radio hits from the 80s, 90s and today, such as We Got the Beat, My Prerogative, Call Me Maybe, Just the Way You Are and 15 other beloved tunes sung by some of the best voices around! All of these favorites are re-imagined into high energy character and story songs that are emotional, as well as humorous.
Directed by Double Springs native John Bailey, students from four Winston County middle and high schools have been rehearsing together to tell the story of Cyrano and Roxanne, two high school seniors who have known each other since early childhood. They are best friends, but Cyrano now has a crush on Roxanne, who says she's madly in love with the new hunk in town!
Cyrano, who runs the Burger Shack afterschool hangout, is quick-witted, outwardly confident and has a way with words. He also has a larger-than-life ginormous nose! Is Cyrano correct to realize Roxanne could never fall for him? Will the Burger Shack gang stand idly by as their friends complicate their lives? What will happen at the Senior Prom? And what's this about a fencing tournament? Now, Winston County hasn't seen one of those lately!
Come enjoy a rollicking, spirited fun-filled evening inside The Dual Destiny Theater at Looney's Tavern, 24000 Hwy 278, Double Springs, Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
