Norma Harris, 84, of Cullman, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 13, 1939 to Ellie and Ruby Mae Reno.
When Norma Jean “Deanor” was young, she was busy with her seemingly ever-growing number of younger siblings and cousins who she enjoyed spending time with. As a teenager, she laughed hard and had great fun with her friends and was a majorette in the Addison High School band. She also enjoyed dancing with her boyfriend, who would become her husband and the love of her life. Together, they had children to whom they gave much love, fun adventures and everything else they needed.
Norma Jean loved all the many friends she made during over 25 years of working at Kinro and during about the same amount of time being a band booster, a favorite band chaperone and ever-present band concession stand worker. In the spare time that she managed to find in her full life, she was a skilled hand embroiderer, had an incredible green thumb growing and tending to beautiful flowers and plants and enjoyed solving word puzzles. In later life, she loved and spoiled her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing and strong woman throughout her life.
Norma is survived by her children, Lanita Harris, Danny (Lageita) Harris, Lasinda (Chris) McDaniel, Larissa (Kevin) Cleckler and Dennis “Denny” (Sherri) Reno; grandchildren, Kelley (Tony) Harris, Madison (Dakota) Harris, Ross Harris, Riley Harris, Chloe Patrick, Trynt Allen, Adelyn Southard, Nick (Kandis) McLeroy, Mariah (Josh) Hicks, Sarah McDaniel, Lily McDaniel, Connor McDaniel, Kathryn Cleckler, Kayden Cleckler, Hannah Terry and Parker Reno; great-grandchildren, Abeni, Alayna, Amelia, Rowan, Zoey, Levi, Leia, Deacon, Maggie, Bayleigh and Ensley and siblings, Barbara (Hershel) Hill, Walter “Dickie” (Shirley) Reno and Dennis “Punk” Reno. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Harris, husband; her son, Steven Harris; her mother, Ruby Ellenburg Reno; her father, Ellie Reno; her brothers, Doyce “Buddy” Reno, Phillip Reno, Ricky Reno and Kenneth Reno and sister, Linda Faye Clark.
