Haleyville golfing Lions finish fourth in state

MUSCLE SHOALS - To finish the year in the top four in the state is something to be very proud of and that is exactly what the Haleyville High School golf team did.
The five-member team, which included Baylor Arnold, Jonathan Cagle, Jack Lawson, J.B. Miller and Rob Richards, with their coach Dusty Ball, traveled to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals Monday, May 14, and Tuesday, May 15, for state competition.
UMS-Wright extended its state championship state record to 24 overall with 297-292 and 581 total overall to win the 4A team title. White Plains was 53 shots back at 634 to finish second, followed by Madison Academy (678) and Haleyville (696).
Arnold had 111 for Round 1 and 103 for Round 2; Cagle - 113, 98; Lawson - 88, 88; Miller - 76, 81; Richards - 76, 78.
Low medalist was Oneonta’s Cole Davidson, who had a 66 on day one and a 70 Tuesday for an 8-under 136 total. Andrew Graves led the winning Bulldogs with a 69-72 141 total to finish second. Oneonta’s Will Patrick was third shooting the best round Tuesday with a 5-under 67 to finish at 144.
