American Legion Auxiliary plans large yard sale for 9-1-1 Festival weekend

HALEYVILLE - Visitors to Haleyville will want to visit more of the city during 9-1-1 Festival weekend Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, thanks to a large yard sale event planned by Whitehead Unit 33 of  the American Legion.
The Auxiliary is currently selling spots for a yard sale that will take place at the American Legion Post, located on Highway 13 North, beginning at 8 a.m. each morning.  Spots will be 15x10 and will not include electricity.  They will be $10 per day.

The Auxiliary will also be offering delicious grilled plates each day from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Friday’s menu will include grilled jumbo hot dogs or Polish sausage, potato salad, baked beans and a drink for an $8 donation.  On Saturday, the Auxiliary will be offering grilled 1/3 lb. Angus beef burgers, along with potato salad, baked beans and a drink for a $10 donation.  Plates will  be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Dine-in or caryout.
Plates can be ordered in advance by  seeing any Auxiliary member or calling (205) 552-2868.   Walk-ups will also be welcome.
The American Legion Post Home will be open both Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, with restroom facilities available.  Concessions will also be available for purchase.
Post and Unit members of the Legion will also be offering red poppies both days for a donation, with proceeds benefiting veteran’s projects.  To learn more about the significance of the red poppy and veterans, see Page 2.
Proceeds from yard sale spots, concessions and the grilled plates will go to help the American Legion Auxiliary with its many projects to help local veterans.
