CULLMAN - A 38-year-old Bremen woman has been indicted by a Cullman County grand jury on several charges, including homicide /manslaughter, stemming from a two-vehicle accident that claimed the lives of three former Lynn School students and an unborn child.
Kristi Leanna Cordes was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 28, on seven grand jury indictments, based on the crash that occurred around 10:26 p.m. Saturday, November, 21, 2020, on Highway 69 near Bremen, authorities said.
Cordes was indicted by the grand jury on four counts of homicide/manslaughter, aggravated assault, driving under the influence and driving on the wrong side of the road, based on results of an investigation by the highway patrol division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The crash claimed the lives of Tristan Stormy Lane Black, 22, of Lynn, driver of a 2005 Honda Element, as well as three of his passengers - Brookelynne Alexus Dowdy, 20, of Double Springs; Bailey Dewayne Bennett, 20, of Haleyville and Brookelynne and Bailey’s unborn daughter, Madelyn Grace, officials said. Dowdy, Bennett and Black were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities at the scene said.
Injured in the crash was a juvenile passenger of the Honda, as well as Cordes, who was driving a Cadillac, authorities said.
Troopers earlier reported that the Cadillac crossed the center line of Highway 69 near Highway 91, about five miles southwest of Bremen and struck the Honda.
Family members noted that Brookelynne, was 31 weeks pregnant with her and Bennett’s first child, Madelyn.
