Haleyville student wins Winston County Spelling Bee

These winners of elementary, middle and high school spelling bees competed in the Winston County Spelling Bee on Feb. 4.

Daniel Clark was the last person standing after twelve rounds of spelling and vocabulary questions at the Winston County Spelling Bee on Friday, Feb. 4. To win, he spelled the championship word “heroic.” Clark was the school winner from Haleyville Middle School. He competed against nine other winners from elementary, middle and high schools across the county. The county runner up was Zoe Hearn from Meek Elementary School. The other school winners who competed at the county bee were Taylor Alexander of Addison Elementary, Danica Burnett of Addison High, Aubree Bell of Double Springs Elementary, Esley Gray of Double Springs Middle, Kali Welborn of Haleyville Elementary, Baylee Harbin of Lynn Elementary, Cadance Woodruff of Lynn High and Adeline Vaughn of Meek High.
