The Double Springs Public Library has two reading programs on the books for this summer. The summer reading program, “Ocean’s of Possibility,” for children aged 5-12 begins Monday, June 13. All other summer reading program sessions will be in the library on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., unless otherwise noted below. Registration is now open and participants are urged to register before the first event if possible. Here is the program schedule:

June 13, Alabama Museum of Natural History
June 21, Tickled Pink Petting Zoo
June 28, showing of an ocean-themed children’s movie in the Community Center Gym
July 5, 4-H Center animals
July 12, 9:30 a.m., McWane Science Center

DSPL is also conducting an adult reading program this summer. Participants who read three library books within three weeks will be entered in a drawing for a prize. The contest will repeat every three weeks until July 26. An additional prize will then be awarded to the person who read the most books during the summer. Those who wish to participate should stop by the library to sign up. A library card is required but cards are free to any resident of Winston or Walker County. A replacement card may be obtained for $5.
