Johnny Lee Nance Sr. 76, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Johnny was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was a Christian and a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from the Franklin County Highway Department after 30-plus years of loyal service. Johnny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family.
Johnny could be found often on the banks of the river waiting for “The Big One!” He was a man of all trades and when he wasn’t fishing, he was fixing anything that was broken. Being a Tennessee Vols fan, he would be watching with great interest to see them win, not just in football but basketball, as well. He helped to serve food to the community at the J.W. Todd Center.
His wonderful grandchildren brought so much joy to his life, and there will be a huge void in their lives, but his love for them will be carried throughout their lives.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer Nance Morris (Lester) and Jacklyn Nance Cox (Richard); grandchildren, Jelicia Nance Williams (Tyler), Jaxon Cox, Kristen Cox, Zoe Cox and Eden Christophe: great-grandson, Jackson Williams; sisters Dessie Mooreand Arlene Nance, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Mae Smith Nance; son, Johnny Lee Nance Jr. and parents, Johnny Paul Nance and Adella Nance.
Visitation will be held at Pinkard Funeral Home of Russellville on Saturday, March 18,2023 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. His funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
