Vera Geraldine "Dene" Batchelor

Vera Geraldine "Dene" Batchelor, 66, of Double Springs, passed away April 17, 2025, at her home.

She was born February 18, 1959, to Oscar and Eva Pugh.

Dene was the kind of person that made the world brighter just by being in it. She was humble and kind in a way that was quiet and powerful. She never needed recognition, never sought attention--and never--ever complained, even in the toughest times.

Dene loved her family fiercely and was always there for them without hesitation. She was a devoted wife and mother and a member of the New Beginnings in Christ Church in Double Springs, where she faithfully served as secretary for over 25 years.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at New Beginnings in Christ Church, where the service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Double Springs. Brother Ed Jordan will officiate. Pallbearers will be Keith Jones, Tommy Hamby, Cody Young, Caleb Young, Kaden Barton and Zac McGaughy.

Dene is survived by her husband, Robert Batchelor; son, Nathan (Bethany) Batchelor; brothers, Charlie (Yolanda) Pugh and Roger Pugh; sisters, Lynn (Joe) Thurman and Jeanette Head; sisters-in-law, Patsy (Keith) Jones, Teresa (Tommy) Hamby and Sandy Pugh; brother-in-law, Walter Batchelor; Chance (Laci) Hood, who was like a second son to her and held a special place in her heart; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Eva Pugh; brother, Don Pugh; father- and mother-in-law, Levon and Betty Batchelor; and brothers-in-law, Martin Young and Stacy McGee.
