Arbos Lynn

Arbos Cleo Lynn, 96, of Haleyville, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was born on June 22, 1929 in Lynn and moved to Haleyville when he was 3 years old. He quit school at the beginning of 11th grade in order to help his parents with the coal business and work on the family farm. When he turned 20 years old, he moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1949 and began working at Ford Motor Company. He worked on the assembly line building convertible tops and could build one complete top in 9 minutes!

Arbos married the love of his life, Nelda Elaine Guttery, also from Haleyville, in August, 1953. They moved from Michigan back to Haleyville in 1959, where they would make it their forever home. Arbos and his father, Albert, built an automotive shop that same year, which would be known to everyone around as “Lynn’s Body Shop”. If you ever wrecked a vehicle and needed excellent body work, required a beautiful paint job, needed towing or just needed expert advice on what vehicle to buy, then you knew to go to Arbos Lynn! He was an expert when it came to vehicles of any make and model. In fact, he had the privilege of restoring one of “Hitler’s cars” back in the '70s. After a wonderful 36 years, Arbos closed Lynn’s Body Shop and opened Lynn’s Car Sales in 1995. He then retired from the car business (kinda) and began raising cattle and buying and renting homes, while also flipping homes. He may have only went to the 11th grade, but Arbos was one of the smartest businessmen in Haleyville. If you knew Arbos at all, you knew he loved God, his family, friends and of course farming, cars and trucks! Arbos was known around Haleyville as the most caring, loving, giving, kindhearted Christian family man and will be missed by so many. Arbos joined Corinth Heights Baptist Church in 1960 and remained a member until our Godly Father called him home.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 12 - 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with Scott Ward officiating. Burial to follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Eddie Hamrick, Daniel Hamrick, Todd Barton, Rodney Dodd, David Nolen and Hunter Nolen.

He is survived by his 2 children, Timothy Arbos Lynn (wife Becky) of Dora and Patti Lynn Wood (husband Woody) of Daleville, and his one and only granddaughter, Lynnsie Leigh Wood of Enterprise. Arbos is also survived by his extended family: Rodney Dodd; David (Memorie) Nolen and their two children, Hunter and Aiden and Valerie Dodd, all of Haleyville.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Nelda Elaine (Guttery) Lynn, who passed away in July 1983; his second wife of 33 years, Carolyn Jo (Townsend) Lynn, who passed away in March 2017; parents, Albert Franklin and Lestie (Dodd) Lynn; brothers, J. L. Lynn, Earl Lynn and Mack Lynn; sisters, Inez (Lynn) King and  Janie (Lynn) Hamrick and extended family, Shane and Josh Cooper and Riverlee Faith Dodd.

Arbos leaves behind his “favorites,” Carolyn Corkren, Evelyn Hicks, Linda Hardin and Dianne Lindsey; sweet cousins, Sharron Adkinson, Shirley Edwards, Joyce Cagle and Debbie Grubbs; his thoughtful nephew, Eddie Hamrick and wife Deb; his car buddies, Jessie Flanagin, Philip Woolridge and Edgar Marchan, and his faithful friends Todd Barton and the State Farm girls (Katrina, Nikki, Christy and Misty). He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and too many other friends to mention, but always remember he loved you all so very much!

The family would like to thank Vicky Dean and Ms. Jo at the Senior Center and Paula and Emily Acker at 129 Gas Station for being “the best cooks/friends” anyone could ask for. The family also wants to thank Nikki Lay at Azalea Manor and their amazing team of caregivers. You all gave him the best 3 weeks of his life and for that, we are eternally grateful.
