Gary Hulon Sawyer, 78, of Haleyville, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at his home in Haleyville.
Gary was born January 30, 1947, to Willie Sawyer and Louise Hester, of Parrish. He was an avid deer hunter and loved his Alabama football. He loved to study and spend his time reading the Bible.
Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2025, from 12-2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where his funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Gary is survived by his sons, David Sawyer, Jeremy Sawyer, and Terrell Sawyer; grandchildren, Emma Sawyer and Blake Sawyer; sisters, Karen (David) Higginbotham and Cheryl Freeman; brother, Dewayne (Misty) Hester and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Sawyer; granddaughter, Ajah Sawyer; parents, Willie Sawyer and Louise Hester and brother, Ronald Sawyer.
