LYNN - September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and one local survivor is using her second lease on life to help raise awareness and support for those seeking to find a cure for the disease.
Melissa Alsup, of Lynn, is giving back after surviving ovarian cancer. She is currently taking orders for T-shirts celebrating and raising awareness for ovarian cancer awareness. The shirts - which will feature the signature teal ribbon signifying ovarian cancer awareness - come in sizes youth through 3X. Youth through extra large are $10 and 1X-3X are $11. The deadline to order the shirts will be Monday, Sept. 3.
All proceeds from sales will benefit the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, a Birmingham-based non-profit which raises funds for research into early detection of ovarian cancer, empowering communities through gynecologic awareness and enriching lives through support, all with a goal of a world free from gynecologic cancers.
To order a T-shirt, please call 205-275-2755.
