HALEYVILLE - American Legion Whitehead Post 33 and the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting a special screening of the animated film Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero, Thursday, Oct. 11, at 5:15 p.m. at the Dixie Theater in downtown Haleyville.
Sgt. Stubby is an animated version of the true life story of the real Sergeant Stubby, a stray Staffordshire bull terrier who became a hero during WWI. The American Legion - which is trying to raise awareness to the fact that 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, chose to help bring this film to Haleyville, along with the Chamber of Commerce and Vet Flicks.
Tickets are $7 apiece and can be purchased at the door. There will only be one screening of the film for the general public and veterans here in Haleyville. The film will be shown Friday, Oct. 12, for 3-5th graders at Haleyville Elementary School.
