Raise for coroner on ballot Tuesday

WINSTON COUNTY - One amendment on the ballot for the general election Tuesday, Nov. 6, pertains directly to Winston County, with voters to decide whether the county coroner will receive an increase in pay.
Effective the beginning of the next term of office, the Winston County coroner, depending on  the choice of voters, will have an increase in annual salary of $9,500 per year, according to wording of House Bill 81, upon which the amendment on the ballot is based.
The salary increase provided by the act shall be paid in the same manner as the salary the coroner is paid on the effective date of act, HB 81 stated.
