DNA use in genealogy topic for WCGS meeting Feb. 19

DOUBLE SPRINGS -  The Winston County Genealogical Society will be meeting Tuesday, February 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Winston County Archives, located on Highway 195 in Double Springs. The guest speaker will be Dr. Greg Taylor, a biology instructor from Bevill State Community College in Hamilton.

Dr. Taylor is widely known in the area for his knowledge of using DNA with family history research. He will be opening up the presentation to a question and answer forum so this will be a great opportunity to have any of your DNA genealogy questions answered.

Ancestry.com and other other DNA testing companies have opened up a new world and changed forever the way genealogy is done. Although DNA results cannot replace the “paper trail” in genealogy research, it rather backs up or compliments family history.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Everyone is invited.
