Disagreements arise

Disagreements arose at the Monday, Feb. 4, Bear Creek Town Council meeting about paying for additional employees, as the town is facing an inadequate number of employees due to the massive amount of renovation work required to reopen Twin Forks Campgrounds.
The town also needs additional help in the financial department, since Town Clerk Jamie Clerk will be out of the office for the signing of paperwork regarding a $1 million loan/grant to refurbish the town’s water lines and while  attending a training conference.
The topic of needing additional employees was brought to the table for discussion by Mayor Tammie Batchelor, noting that employee Eric Mills is supposed to be working part-time but is raking in over 40 hours a week.  The town needs to eitherpay for those additional hours or make Mills full time, Batchelor suggested.
“Our park and rec (department), as you know, is extremely busy.  Eric Mills has been working over 40 hours, but we’re only paying him for 25. That’s all he’s turning in because he’s part time, but he doesn’t leave,” Batchelor pointed out. “He is giving his time to the town.”
