Susan Lexell Whalen Kiker, 76, of Lake View, passed this life on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at her home from natural causes. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Susan will take place at her home in Lake View on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, from 3-5 p.m.
Susan was raised in Haleyville. She was an active Democrat and served as president of the USW Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, Chapter Bessemer, Alabama. She was the wife of the first mayor of Lake View, for whom she campaigned ardently. Susan, a Shining Star of this Earth of ours, will be missed by many, especially her loving children.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lester Kiker; her parents, Howard Clarence Whalen and Charlene Whalen Dodd and her very special friend, William Claude McCullar.
Susan is survived by her four loving children, Richard Hayden (Debra) Kiker, Vicki Kiker (Ernie) Courrier, Catherine Kiker (Rick) Jansen and Joseph Keith (Vickie) Kiker; her siblings, Rexall (Gloria) Whalen, Billy Rodger Whalen, Tony Frank (Carolyn) Whalen and Judy Whalen Evans; her adoring grandchildren, Zachary, Logan, Nick, Amanda, Cambria, Alex, Samantha, Benjamin, Justin, Shalyn and Chloe and her great-grandchildren, Emory, Lola, Landon, Wyatt, Noah, Ali and Anderson. Susan will also be missed by her many sweet friends, too numerous to list.
