MOULTON - Strawberries, live music, a pageant, golf tournament, mud volleyball competition, arts and crafts and other free family fun are all on the agenda when the annual Strawberry Festival hits the streets of downtown Moulton in May. Now in its fifth year, the Strawberry Festival welcomes thousands of guests who come in search of the sweet berry and to experience the charm of the annual event. The 2019 festival will be held May 3 and 4.
Hosted by the Jesse Owens Runners’ Club, the Strawberry Festival is a two-day community event celebrating the strawberry harvest of North Alabama. While the strawberry takes center stage, the family-friendly event also offers free inflatable activities for kids, the Lawrence County Fire Fighters and Rapid Response Volunteers display, a classic car/truck/motorcycle show, arts and crafts and food vendors, a mud volleyball tournament, a 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run, a golf tournament, beauty pageant and live music featuring local performers.
The Strawberry Festival is accepting vendors, sponsors and volunteers. Booth space for arts and crafts, political campaigns, non-profit organizations, food vendors and other vendors is available. Rental fees range from $100 to $250 for a 12-by-12 booth for both days. Booth set-up begins at 6 a.m. Friday morning and must be complete before the start of the festival. Registration deadline to apply is April 27, 2019. To download an application, go to http://www.strawberryfestivalmoulton.com/uploads/6/9/1/5/69158275/booth_rental_app.pdf.
Organizers are looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers who are able to dedicate their time to help run the two-day event. Volunteers are needed to assist with various contests, traffic control, parking and in the children’s area.
Thousands of locals and visitors enjoyed the live entertainment, great food, vendors and strawberries in 2018. To ensure another successful event, sponsorships are needed and are available for every business and individual with levels ranging from $50 to $1,000. Sponsors receive a comprehensive package of benefits including exposure leading up to and throughout the festival weekend and through social media.
