DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Board of Education met Thursday, May 2, and approved the following personnel changes:
•Leave of absence for Juanita Tidwell through May 31, 2020;
•FMLA for Candice Davis through May 24;
•The retirements of Keith Robins (July 1), Brenda Gilbreath (June 1) and LaFonda Tyree (July 31);
•Hired Tiffany Guin as special education teacher at Double Springs Middle School effective Aug. 1;
•Hired Randal Stone as special education teacher at Meek High School, effective Aug. 1;
•Hired Bryan Wakefield as assistant principal and teacher at Winston County High School, effective Aug. 1.
Non-renewal of all 2018-2019 coaching assignments were approved, as well as all competitive events for the summer, 2019 and 2019-2020 school year.
Also on the agenda was awarding roof bids for Addison Schools to Mid America. Storm damage is the cause for this need, with work expected to begin possibly this month.
A list of 22 buses were approved to be traded in to Transportation South. The year models range from 2000 to 2014.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 17, at 8 a.m. at the board of education building in Double Springs.
