Back-to-school block party Aug. 5

HALEYVILLE - Instead of Haleyville City Schools officials, and teachers hopping onboard the party bus in order to  motivate students for the start of school, this year, they are offering the first Block Party, where school and city resources will be combined for a landmark Back to School community event on Monday, Aug. 5.
The lower parking lot behind Haleyville City Hall will be the site for multiple sources of motivation for the new year, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., and the event goes far beyond just a pep rally, noted Chere Fetter, director of instructional services for HCS.
“It’s just a way to give back to our community, and just a kick off for back to school,” Fetter said.
