Sylvia Celeste Estes Fell, 78, of Haleyville, entered into rest on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 at her home. Her funeral was held Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. Tyler Hallman and Vance Hutton officiated the service. Burial followed in Winston Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Ellis, Steve Massey, Ron Harper, Greg Pollock, Danny Farris and Tanner Goddard.
Sylvia was born on March 29, 1941, in Fayette. Her family moved to Haleyville when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Haleyville High School in 1959. She was a majorette in the band for three years. Sylvia was a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes for ages 2, 3, 4 and 5, as well as third and fourth grades for over 20 years. She worked over 24 years at Wal Mart in Haleyville, retiring as claims manager. Sylvia enjoyed walking and reading her Bible. She was very active in supporting the community and her church family. Sylvia left a legacy of being a godly Christian lady in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Tommie Estes.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Chester "Sonny" Fell, of Haleyville; son, Chad Ethan Fell, of Haleyville; sister, Charlotte (Ken) Harper, of Haleyville; brother, Joe Lee (Sara) Estes, of Birmingham; nieces and nephews, Ron Harper, Keith Harper, Jane Estes, Johnny Estes, Joy Ellis, Amanda Booth, Diane Ward and Lisa Viquelia; great-nephew and great-niece, Jordan Harper and Kyleigh Box and a host of great-great-nieces and nephews.
