ARLEY - The group who has removed literally tons of debris from Smith Lake, the Winston County Smith Lake Advocacy Group, will be at it again on Thursday, Sept. 12, and will be in need of volunteers to help beautify the lake. The group met Tuesday, Aug. 13, in Arley to discuss details on the project.
The location of the launch for the cleanup will be at Jim King’s boat launch just inside Cullman County. Everyone will meet at 8:30 a.m. to sign up.
Volunteers can ride on either boats operated by the advocacy group or Alabama Power. Volunteers are instructed to bring their own life jackets, insect repellants and a folding chair for lunch, which will be provided along with free T-shirts by Alabama Power’s Renew Our Rivers and Shoreline Management.
