C3 ninth annual meeting Jan. 21 in Winfield

WINFIELD - The 9th annual meeting of C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance, Inc., will be held on Tuesday, January 21, at the Pastime Theater Civic Center in Winfield. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m. Come for coffee, a continental breakfast and networking with friends and business associates from 8-9 a.m.
The guest speaker for the meeting will be Mark Brazeal, vice president of administration, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A. Brazeal is responsible for all administration operations of the new joint venture in Huntsville, including human resources, safety, production control, environmental, accounting and external affairs.
Mazda Toyota Manufacturing will have the capacity to produce 150,000 units of Mazda’s new crossover model and 150,000 units of a new SUV. The facility will employ 4,000 team members with a $1.6 billin investment.
David Thornell, C3 president & CEO, stated, “We are thrilled that Mark has accepted our invitation to serve as keynote speaker and look forward to hearing about one of the largest single investment and employment projects in the history of our state.”
In addition to Brazeal’s presentation, Thornell will share an update on the events of 2019 and an outlook for 2020. Awards will also be presented to the 2019 Champion of the Year, 2019 Industry of the Year, and outgoing and incoming board members will be recognized. To end the program, the gavel will be passed from the outgoing chairman, Mr. Al Elbert of Sulligent, to the incoming chairman, Mr. Wade Nixon of Hamilton.
C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance, Inc., known locally as C3, represents Marion, Lamar and Fayette counties with a primary focus of marketing the three-county region to new and existing businesses for the creation and retention of jobs for area residents.
