State resolution honors MHS Band of Champions on 1A state marching championship

State Representative Tim Wadsworth reads the state resolution honoring the Meek High School band. Shown looking on are band students and MHS Principal Marla Murrah.

ARLEY - The Meek High School Band of Champions was literally center stage at the 61st annual Chitterling supper, not just because the fundraiser benefitted their program, but also because they were recognized by State Representative Tim Wadsworth of Arley, for the accomplishment of being 1A state marching band champions at a contest on Nov. 2, 2019.
Several band students gathered on the stage, where Representative Wadsworth was joined by Murrah. At this time, Dunham had not yet made it to the event.
“One of the key people involved, band director Kevin Dunham fell and broke his arm a little while ago working at the chittlin supper,” Wadsworth said
He then directed attention to the House Resolution #68 honoring the MHS band.
This resulted in resounding applause from the audience.
“This is quite an honor for what they have done, throughout the state,” Wadsworth stated. “They beat out all the other 1A schools in the state.
“This band is an honor for our community,” said Wadsworth, referring to the Resolution. “The band earned the coveted title through hard work, diligence and non-waiving commitment  to excellence.”
The resolution, Wadsworth continued, would be filed on record at the state level honoring the literal Meek High School Band of Champions, as they are referred.
“I don’t need to say much,” Murrah said upon receipt of the resolution. “I just wish these students here, that they understand what an honor it is to be recognized by your Representative Tim Wadsworth.
“You deserve it,” Murrah said addressing the band members. “You put so many hours into preparing your marching pieces. You do that every day.”
