Prayer rally at courthouse Nov. 1

DOUBLE SPRINGS - “Prayer changes the heart and can change the nation,” Franklin Graham, son of Evangelist Billy Graham, believes.

With that reality and truth, there will be a God, Country and Community Prayer Rally on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., on the steps of the Winston County Courthouse in Double Springs to come together and celebrate our blessings from Almighty God. We as citizens have been blessed abundantly to live in a wonderful place called Winston County.

America is at a crossroads, and I believe we should take every opportunity to stand up for our nation, the things of God and His Word.

My name is Ron Horton, and I am the pastor of New Prospect Baptist Church in Haleyville and also the chaplain for the Winston County Sheriff’s Department.  On behalf of Sheriff Horace Moore and Chief Deputy Brett Rodgers, I would like to invite you to the prayer rally. In case of inclement weather, the rally will be moved inside the court room. Social distancing and masks will be required inside.

Our nation will be going to the polls on Nov. 3, to cast their ballots for the most important election of our day. We need to pray and seek the face of God during these days. Christians need to stand together in allegiance not to a political party, but to our mighty God.

There will be special music, scripture and prayer as we come together in unity and purpose. On behalf of Sheriff Moore and Chief Deputy Rodgers, I hope to see the courthouse area full of people seeking the Lord and His will for our nation.
