Body found in sleeper of truck Wednesday afternoon

HALEYVILLE - The body of a Pensacola, Fla. man was found in the sleeper section of a Seminole Express truck in downtown Haleyville Thursday afternoon.

Haleyville Police made the discovery of the body in the sleeper of the truck which was found parked on a concrete vacant lot beside McDonalds and behind Pinnacle Bank.

The Haleyville Fire Department was called around 3:42 p.m. to scene to help provide lifting assistance, noted Acting Chief Terrell Baccus. Firefighters assisted the Winston County Coroners Office in removing the body of Jeffrey Mickle Evans, 56, from the truck, authorities on the scene said.

Coroner Tracy Yealock Holley had pronounced Evans dead at 3:40 pm of natural causes, and Evans’ body was transported from the scene by the coroner’s office, Holley said.

Agencies responding to the scene were Haleyville Police Department, Haleyville Fire Department, county district attorney’s office and coroner’s office.
