RUSSELLVILLE - North Alabama is getting an alternative baseball team for boys and girls 15 and older on the autism spectrum or who have similar conditions. Russellville Parks Department has graciously provided their facilities for the team.
Alternative Baseball™ provides a traditional baseball experience for those 15 and older with autism and/or other special needs. The program was founded in Dallas, Georgia by a young man on the autism spectrum with the goal to develop physical and social skills in an environment where players can be accepted for who they are, encouraged to be the best they can be and instilled with the confidence needed to fulfill their dreams on and off the diamond.
Players, coaches and volunteers are currently being recruited for this latest branch of Alternative Baseball™. To apply, call team manager Stephanie Cook at (256) 436-9271 or go to alternativebaseball.org. Alternative Baseball™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
