Sibley named president of Lakeland Community Hospital

Lakeland Community Hospital President Cherie Sibley.

HALEYVILLE -Cherie Sibley, who has been named president of Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, wants to move community healthcare forward, promising a positive approach and new ideas, refuting  rumors and negativity.
Sibley, a member of the Winston County Healthcare Authority, which owns Lakeland, has a history of service with the hospital, having been employed there from 1990-2006, working as director of surgery and chief nursing officer.
As president of Lakeland, Sibley will oversee all operations, including those of the hospital’s leadership team, including Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Young, as well as all financial matters, which are handled through Craven Consulting Company, Director of Nursing Amber Medley and Director of Human Resources Lee Sandlin.
Not only will Sibley be overseeing all areas of the hospital operations, but will also support all staff members, she added.
“As part of the healthcare authority, we definitely saw a need for more resources on the ground and some more experience resources,” Sibley explained. “I have 30-plus years of administrative experience.”
Roger Hayes, chairman of the Winston County Healthcare Authority, further explained that Sibley met with Director of Finance Bryan Craven and brought a plan to the healthcare authority for consideration.
“This is the first time we’ve really had a good plan like this,” Hayes pointed out. “Everybody is excited about it.
“What did I see good?” Hayes said in response to a question asked by the Alabamian, “There were some changes that were made.  The experience Cherie has is invaluable. You just don’t get that every day and I don’t think we’ve had it.
“On the finance end of it, we’ve got some good numbers,” Hayes added. “We feel very good about our numbers, how to pay for all of this.”
Another goal, Hayes said, is to be more involved in the community.
“We want our community to know more about our hospital,” Hayes pointed out. “Even though they know about the hospital, they don’t know about the programs.“
