Courington family reunion

Date

NATURAL BRIDGE - The Courington family reunion will be Sunday, Sept. 1, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Natural Bridge Community Center, located on Highway 13 just north of the four-way stop at Natural Bridge.
Lunch will be served and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.
All members of the Courington family are cordially invited to attend.

Legacy Trails Workday in the Sipsey Wilderness with Wild Alabama

Join Wild Alabama volunteers on Friday, Sept. 6, Saturday, Sept. 7, Friday, Sept. 20, or Friday, Sept. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an opportunity to work on the repair and restoration of trails in the Sipsey Wilderness.

Thanks to a Legacy Trails grant, Wild Alabama had professional trail builders analyze and diagnose the erosion issues on over 20 miles of Sipsey Wilderness trails. Armed with that knowledge, Wild Alabama is now ready to make improvements.

First Baptist of Haleyville hosting Swamp John’s

HALEYVILLE - First Baptist Church of Haleyville will host a benefit Swamp John’s supper Monday, Sept. 9, from 3-6 p.m. in the parking lot of the old Piggly Wiggly on Highway 195 in Haleyville.
Plates will be $15 and will include fish, chicken, shrimp or combination of meats, fries, slaw, hushpuppies, a dill pickle spear, onion slice and sweet or unsweet tea.
Proceeds will go to help with missions at First Baptist Church.

Tidwell Brothers Singing Memories present free concert in Natural Bridge

NATURAL BRIDGE - Tidwell Brothers Singing Memories will present Uncharted Territory in concert Saturday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. at the Natural Bridge Community Center, located on Highway 13 just north of the four-way stop in Natural Bridge.  Uncharted Territory will be performing classic songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, along with country Gospel.  There is no admission cost, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Forest bathing in the Bankhead

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Join Certified Forest Bathing Guide and Wild Alabama Outreach and Education Coordinator Janice Barrett and Certified Forest Bathing Guide Anne Markham Bailey for a Harvest Moon Forest Bathing Walk in the Bankhead National Forest from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. (The location for this month's program will be revealed to those who sign up.)
