Christine Arnold proudly shows her trophy for Ms. Haleyville Health and Rehab 2018.
HALEYVILLE - Excitement filled the air on Thursday, May 10, 2018, as 69 year-old Mrs. Christine Arnold was crowned as Ms. Haleyville Health and Rehab 2018. One of the residents of the long-term health care facility vying for the coveted title, she will join other winners from nursing facilities across the state at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. on July 30 to compete in the 2018 Ms. Alabama Nursing Home Pageant.
“I can’t believe I won. I have always wanted to be part of a beauty pageant and now look what has happened: my wish has come true!” said Arnold as she basked in the glow of her newly bestowed title.
Also selected as members of the queen’s court was first alternate Ms. Brenda Horton of Haleyville and second alternate Ms. Debra Sauvageot of Haleyville.
Arnold and her court were crowned during the local pageant held at Haleyville Health and Rehab.
“We are so very proud to have a lady like Mrs. Arnold to represent the residents of Haleyville Health and Rehab as their ‘queen’ for the next year,” said Anita Harrison, the facility’s activity director. “We can’t think of anyone better to let others in our area know just how special our residents are than Mrs. Arnold,” she said.
In addition to being awarded her local title, Arnold is now eligible to participate in the statewide competition for the title of Ms. Alabama Nursing Home 2018. It is sponsored by the Alabama Nursing Home Association and the ANHA’s Activities and Social Services Auxiliary.
We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this pageant a huge success. All those that donated dresses, shoes, jewelry, decorations, food and their time to do residents’ hair and make-up, which was mostly done by the CNAs. Thanks go to the CNAs, nurses and families for helping to get them dressed and ready. Thank you all!
