HALEYVILLE - Has the Coronavirus-19 got you stuck inside at home? Do you need something to do? What about your kids, since school is closed for now? Even though the brick-and-mortar libraries are also closed, books and activities can still be accessed online.
Sandra Underwood, the regional director of Carl Elliott Regional Public libraries, has made an announcement that all fees have been waived and everything is all clear for patrons to use any of the online resources the library has available.
"Staff in all of our member libraries in the Walker and Winston county area have worked the past week to provide access to our services for each and every patron," Underwood said.
In the meantime, Librarian Carla Waldrep is offering online videos of story time on Facebook. To get to them, type in Haleyville Public Library or cerlhpl in Facebook.
Most of the databases on their website are available with or without a library card. Homework Alabama is one of the greatest resources available to grade school and college students, Waldrep indicated. The hours of service on their site have also been extended. Previously the hours were 4 p.m. - 10 p.m Sunday - Thursday. They are now 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. seven days a week.
“We have posted many other free resources to our Facebook page,” Waldrep said. “A few of those includes Tumble Books, Capstone Books, Story Time videos and there will be more to come.”
