HALEYVILLE - A revised police report has been created regarding a three-vehicle accident that occurred Feb. 28 on Highway 13 North in Haleyville.
The story regarding the accident was printed in the March 4, edition. In this story, it was reported to the Alabamian by a witness on the scene, Jordan Anderson, that the 2015 Toyota Sienna Van, driven by Jimmy Loy Tidwell, 84, of Nauvoo, had reportedly crossed the center line. However, the revised police report indicates that this was not the case.
According to the narrative within the revised police report, a copy of which has been obtained by the Alabamian, a 2018 Honda Accord being driven southbound on Highway 13 by Tony Quinton Dobbs, 32, of Hackleburg, crossed the center line and struck Tidwell, who was traveling northbound. After striking Tidwell, Dobbs' vehicle went out of control and struck a 2012 Honda CR-V being driven northbound by Deborah Joan Norris, 57, of Nauvoo. The accident was investigated by Haleyville Police Officers Rodney Shirley and Steve Hicks, and the narrative on the revised police report included corroboration by several witnesses stating that Tidwell did not cross the center line.
Both Dobbs and Norris were reportedly injured within the crash, with Norris being taken by ambulance to Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, while Dobbs was taken to Lakeland by private vehicle. Ward’s Wrecker Service towed both Dobbs and Tidwell’s vehicles from the scene, while Lyle Wrecker Service towed Norris’ vehicle.
No citations or charges were issued by HPD over the accident, according to the revised report.
