John grew up in Haleyville. He graduated from Haleyville High School, Class of 1964, and then went on to graduate from Florence State with an accounting degree and lettered in golf. He also attended graduate school at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
John was a kind soul and a good friend to those who knew him. He never met a stranger and would give if someone was in need. He was a devoted husband, brother, father and “Papa”.
He worked for Roofmart and loved his job. His co-workers and customers at Roofmart were also his family. He loved each one of them. John’s true passions were golf and Alabama football. Being on a golf course or sitting in Bryant Denny Stadium was where he enjoyed himself most.
His other passions were his granddaughters, Linley and Lauren. He loved them so very much. We are all so thankful for the time he had with them when he decided to live with his daughter, Jamie, and her husband, Naeem.
John was preceded in death by his dearest Phyllis, his wife of 45 years; his father, John Ralph McNutt; his mother, L.E. West McNutt and his sister, Arbra Della McNutt Fuller.
John is survived by his daughter, Jamie Lynn McNutt Hermani; his son-in-law, Naeem Navroz Hermani and his granddaughters, Linley Caton Wyatt and Lauren Kendall Wyatt.
