Intruders sought in home invasion

Suspects wanted in the home invasion reportedly smashed out the windshield of the victim's vehicle as part of the vandalism at the victims' residence in the Poplar Springs area.

POPLAR SPRINGS - Law enforcement have charged three individuals in a home invasion incident that occurred Friday, March 9, when they smashed out windows to a residence as well as smashed a vehicle parked there and entered at gunpoint into a residence, where a couple was locked in the bedroom hiding. The incident, occurring in the early morning hours, resulted in charges of robbery first degree with a gun, burglary first degree, criminal mischief second degree, theft of property 4th degree and menacing, according to Winston County Sheriff's Investigator Brad Curtis. Charged in the case are Hershel “Bubba” Crockett, 26, of Old Tuscaloosa Road, Jasper; Tasha Marie McGuff Crockett, 30, of Ollie Miller Road, Jasper and Cheyenne Nicole Callahan, 21, of Millcreek Road, Nauvoo, Curtis said. A 4th subject believed to have been involved is also being sought, but law enforcement have only been able to identify the three subjects charged, Curtis said. An altercation on Facebook Messenger on social media escalated to the point of the home invasion, he said. When a defendant is charged with a crime, the charge is merely an accusation until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
