DOUBLE SPRINGS - A license to manufacture wine and open Sipsey Vineyard and Winery in Double Springs has been granted through a mixed vote by the town council.
The wall has separated in the bay area of the Double Springs Fire Department due to water flowing behind it.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Structural deficiencies at Double Springs Town Hall and the Double Springs Fire Department have resulted in the town hiring Alabama Foundation Solutions to correct the issues.
This pavilion has already been constructed on property owned by Bart Crabtree off Highway 278 at Lakeshore. Crabtree wants to have food trucks, live music and serve alcohol at this location.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - The request to sell draft beer, as well as open a winery in Double Springs were two issues brought to the attention of the Double Springs Town Council, recently.
Motorists traveling on all of Double Springs main roads, which all intersect at the above area of town, will soon be passing by cameras that read license plates and enter the numbers into a state database to help law enforcement. The exact location of the cameras has not been disclosed.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - A major traffic issue presented by Police Chief Kim Miller to the Double Springs Town Council last July is being corrected with the adoption of a new ordinance prohibiting certain large trucks from city streets.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Signs reading “No Through Trucks” need to either be taken down or a local ordinance enforced to stop large, semi-trucks from using Blake Drive as a detour from Highway 278 to Highway 195, Double Springs Police Chief Kim Miller said.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - In a mixed vote, the Double Springs Town Council at their Monday May 10, meeting, approved selling alcoholic beverages for on-premises sales on Sundays only at restaurants or eating establishments.
A portion of the track is paved at the Mike Gilbreath Memorial Park in Double Springs. A part still unpaved can be seen above the asphalt in the photo. Though still closed, the construction company will have the park completed soon.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Damage to the walking track at Mike Gilbreath Memorial Park, due to time, weather and roots, caused the park to be closed in February of this year for renovations. According to reports at the town meeting Monday, Sept. 14, the repaving of the track and lighting are the only issues left to complete before the park reopens.
