Lovenia Violet Barnes

Lovenia Violet Barnes, 93, of Haleyville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.  Her funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Sardis No. 1 Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Rev. Ronnie Melvin will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Nichols Funeral Home will direct.
Lovenia was born in Alabama on March 3, 1928, to the late Troy Curtis Nix and Millie Decie Blackwell Nix.  She worked as a lunchroom manager for the Winston County Board of Education.  She was a longtime member of Sardis No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church and loved quilting along with cooking for others.  
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arlis “Bud” Kelly and Waymon Barnes; sons, Don Kelly and Bobby Barnes; parents, Troy and Decie Nix; sisters, Norene Pair and Dot Sides and brother, James Nix.
She is survived by her son, Danny Kelly; grandchildren, Chris (Tammy) Kelly, Tara (Matt) Carroll, Brandon (Jennifer) Kelly and Scott (Sharon) Kelly; great-grandchildren, Blake, Ashley, Logan, Layne, Cole, Sierra, Olivia, Mattie and Landon; brother, Curtis (Jane) Nix and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
