Fill your freezer and help the WCHS archery team at the same time

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The WCHS Archery Team is holding a Fill the Freezer fundraiser to buy much-needed supplies, such as bow cases, and to pay for travel expenses that will allow the new team to attend competitions for the first time this year.
For a $10 donation, contributors will receive a chance to win 130 pounds of beef, provided by N & N Meat Co. of Jasper, Ala. Of that, 30 percent (39 pounds) will be steak, 50 percent (65 pounds) will be ground beef and 20 percent (26 pounds) will be cubed steak and roast. The drawing to determine the winner will be held on Friday, Dec. 17, and chances will be available up until that morning.
Donations can be made via any archery student (see the WCHS Archery Team Facebook  page for a list of students) or the team sponsor Amber Humphries, who can be contacted at Double Springs Elementary School or on Facebook.  To make donating as convenient as possible, Humphries will accept payments through Paypal or Facebook Pay as well as by more traditional means.
The team was formed only last year and had its first season marred by the pandemic. It’s looking forward to the chance to really get started this year with the help of community donations. “This year we’re going to hit it full force and try to get in as many [competitions] as we can,” Humphries said.
