LYNN - After more than two years of planning and work, the renovation of an existing building to create the Lynn Community Center is complete, and the center is now available to rent as an elegant setting for special events.
The Lynn Town Council voted to purchase the existing building and surrounding property in March of 2022. As the Alabamian reported at the time, "(Mayor Earl) Gilbert pointed out that not only would the property give the town a dry place to store equipment and plenty of parking, it would also provide a building that could be turned into a community center, noting that residents have been wanting a place to hold baby and wedding showers. He said that he and most members of the council have wanted to provide such a place for as long as they’ve been in office but haven’t been able to find the land for it up until now."
Located at 22584 Hwy. 5, the new community center can seat 80 to 100 people, making it suitable even for large events such as class and family reunions as well as bridal and baby showers.
The event space dazzles with its high ceilings, chandeliers, wainscotting and faux wood flooring.
“We did a project at a time (while renovating the building), starting with the demolition of a wall," Town Clerk Marcia Manasco noted.
