William Hoyatt McCreless was born the youngest of five children of Claude and Annie Mae McCreless of Chickenfoot Road in Haleyville. He passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12-1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Littleville Cemetery, with Johnny Holland officiating.
He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17, and married Johnnie Faye Burnett, the love of his life, shortly afterward. Together, they embraced 20 years of active military life, had two children and lived in many beautiful exotic areas of the world.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda McCreless Taylor ( husband, Jason) and Ronald McCreless; brother, Dude McCreless (wife, Jewel); grandchildren, Randy Pounders, Beth Gray and Rickey McCreless; great-grandchildren, George Gray, Gabriel Gray, Skyla Pounders and Aryn Pounders and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Annie Mae McCreless; wife, Johnnie Faye McCreless; sister, Lorine Page and brothers, J.L. McCreless and J.B. McCreless.
Mac, as he was known by his colleagues. was a very loving, responsible, dependable man of God. He was always available to lend a helping hand and those who knew him were never disappointed.
He will be remembered for many things, but mostly for being an endearing, loving father, grand and great-grandfather. He will be missed.
