Free groceries available through Walking Program

WINSTON COUNTY - The Winston County Extension Office announces the return of the Walking Program.
The Walking Program was created to educate and challenge Winston County residents aged 50 or older, who choose to participate. The goal of this program is to walk 30 miles within the 30 days of April. Each participant will receive a detailed packet about the program, as well as necessary items to track progress throughout the month. The first forty participants to sign up will receive a $30 gift certificate to their choice of either Goar's Market or Piggly Wiggly in Haleyville; Gateway Foodland in Double Springs or Hyatt's Grocery in Addison if they complete the program
The Extension Office hopes seniors who participate will gain the confidence to continue walking to improve their health!
The Walking Program will not limit the number of people who would like to participate; however, the gift certificates are limited to the first 40 people who sign up. All participants will still receive a packet with items to track progress!
The Winston County Diabetes Support Coalition and the Haleyville Community Foundation sponsor this walking program. The purpose of the program is to encourage seniors to have an active lifestyle.
Seniors may apply for the program by calling the Winston County Extension Office at (205) 489-5376 by Friday, February 28.
