Lucille Wade Speer, 93, of Houston, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Lucille was born November 2, 1931 to Zenus and Maggie Louise Wade. She had a true servant's heart. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her world. Late night sleepovers, fun filled activities (like yearly "Easter egg dying"), and a warm house full of love and grace were always found at her home. Lucille had a special heart for children and anything that involved them. Bible Schools were always the place her special 'chip and dip' recipe was always enjoyed by so many.
Visitation will be Monday, November 3, 2025 at Houston Baptist Church from 12:30- 2 p.m., where her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Houston Cemetery. Brother Kenny Sudduth and Brother Donnie Carroll will officiate. Nichols Funeral Home will direct. Pallbearers will be Steton Hayes, Shane Tuggle, Ty Tuggle, Dave Tuggle, Darrel Gilliland, Briley Hayes, Brandon Millican, and Phoenix Millican.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Vouncille (Mike) Tuggle and Lila (Mickey) Millican; grandchildren, Shane (Allison) Tuggle, Brandon (Christy) Millican, Amy (Darrel) Gilliland, Shera (Mike) Henderson, Brandy (Steton) Hayes and Garrett (Katelyn) Speer; great-grandchildren, Ty Tuggle, Callie Gilliland, Dakota Millican, Briley Hayes, Dave Tuggle, Maggie Gilliland, Leah McKinney, Timber Millican, Kayslyn Speer, Brayden Speer, Henley Hayes, Phoenix Millican and Hollyn Hayes; sister, Florene Stephenson and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wilson Speer; son, Gary Speer; parents, Zenus and Maggie Louise Wade; sisters, Myrl Walker, Icy Mae Alston, Alice Talley, Imogene Wade and Lorene Alston and brother, Austin Wade.
