Mary Elizabeth Godsey, 66, of Double Springs, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville.
Mary was born July 10, 1959 to Inas and Coralee Godsey. She loved her Lord and Savior most of all. She enjoyed reading her Bible, helping in the community and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 12-2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Double Springs, where her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother David Miller will officiate. Nichols Funeral Home will direct.
Mary is survived by her sister, Betty Claborn; brothers, Eugene Godsey, Edmon (Tami) Godsey and Scottie (Charlotte) Godsey; nieces, Amy (Jeremy) Hughes, Rashea (Martin) Rivera, Tara (Carlie) Caton, Jennilee (Craig) Miller, Kimberly Godsey and Kacie Godsey; nephews, Charlie Godsey, Chris Godsey, Craig Godsey, Tim Godsey, Korey Godsey, Christoper Godsey, Jason Godsey, Duane MacLaren, Paul MacLaren, Bobby MacLaren and Scott Claborn and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Inas and Coralee Godsey and brothers, Roy Godsey, Larrie Godsey, J.L. Godsey, Tommy Godsey, Robert Godsey and Terry Godsey.
