Orbie Pierce

Orbie Clifton Pierce, 92, of Haleyville, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026. He was a minister of the Gospel for 70 years, having started preaching in February, 1956. He pastored seven churches, having started, organized and became a member of Liberty Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

He lived long enough to see three grandsons and a great-grandson become ministers. He was a living example of a true Christian. He lived what he preached.

His visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. His funeral will be 12 p.m. on Friday July 3, 2026 at Liberty Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in the Oak Grove community, with Dale Galloway, Brian Galloway, Adam Pinkard, Delmar Duboise , Jerry Plott and Greg Pace officiating. He will lie in state from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to the service. Burial to follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Galloway, Shawn Galloway, Adrian Pinkard, Brian Galloway, Adam Pinkard, Dakota Galloway, Nick Galloway, Chandler Benford and Logan Claytor.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Hood (Chester); son-in-law, Danny Pinkard; sisters, Rachel Tice and Shirley Kuykendall (Bobby); grandsons, Dale (Amanda) Galloway, Shawn (Amy) Galloway, Adrian (Myra) Pinkard, Brian (Heather) Galloway and Adam (Jessica) Pinkard; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter due in September.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hampton and Lillian Pierce; wife, Mable Kirkpatrick Pierce; daughter, Dean Pinkard; brothers, Milton and Thomas Pierce; sister, Katherine Plott and son-in-law, Allen Galloway.
