BEAR CREEK - Newly appointed Bear Creek Police Chief Joey Franks has a last name that’s probably very familiar to people in the town due to his father Ed Franks’ longstanding service in the same role.
One could say that Joey, 45, is literally following in his father’s footsteps, as he begins duties as chief after being appointed by a unanimous vote of the Bear Creek Town Council during their Monday, Nov. 5 meeting.
Before the council’s official vote, Franks had been named as police chief by newly installed Mayor Tammy Rowe Batchelor, for whom Franks has worked at her business Rowe Machinery in Haleyville.
