$320,000 grant to benefit DSES

DOUBLE SPRINGS -Services provided to special needs students who have a wide variety of needs at Winston County Schools, will soon be expanded, thanks to a $320,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Education, adding  new teachers, two new classrooms plus much needed supplies including a bus for transportation.
The school submitted the grant for the students facing a wide variety of needs, including students with autism, noted Lauren Archer, special education coordinator for Winston County Schools.
“We want to make sure their education is individualized, and we saw some areas where we could improve on that,” Archer said. “So we pursued this money.”
